It’s the Holiday Season! Strategy #4

Oh boy here it comes ~ the holidays! It is 8 days until Thanksgiving and 37 days until Christmas! It can be a time of hustle, hurry, and unfortunately stress and worry. So between now and then we’re going to be talking about, and share ways to have a happy enjoyable holiday season from now through Thanksgiving and until Christmas. Each day I will share a tip, secret, or simple strategy on how to keep yourself balanced and centered through the holiday season. It will take about 5 minutes a day.

Hello and Welcome back! We are on strategy day four for relieving stress during the holiday season. Strategy #4 is Get some rest!

Yesterday we talked about staying out of judgment on ourselves as we attempt to meet all of the demands that this time of year can place on us. Missed that one? Here it is: Click here for Strategy #3

Today I would like you to ask yourself these simple questions: How many people am I? How many hands do I have? And how much energy do I have in a day? Or better yet ~ how many hours do I have? (big smile!) Well you get the point.

If you are not careful you can let yourself run ragged at this time of year trying to get it all done. Well, face it – no matter how much you do – there will always be more. So on your Holiday Experience list, under “What would I like to do or experience during the holidays?” write REST and make it a priority. And schedule it.

Again decide what is most important, work toward that, allow others to help you by involving them in preparing for the holiday festivities ~ I know that one of my favorite memories was being with grandma in the kitchen cleaning the cranberries and helping to prepare the cranberry relish. I thought is was a secret family recipe and my grandma always made me feel special that I was being included in preparing it. Years later I found out that it wasn’t so secret ~ and you can find that yummie recipe by clicking here. What was important is that I felt included and my grandma found time to rest because she got some extra help.

Action Step for today: Look at your time table, decide what is important, schedule some time to rest and know that by doing so you will be more focused and productive.

Deep Breath in! Cleansing Breath out! Say to yourself – simple strategies I put in place now will help me to walk in ease and grace, more centered, more balanced.I can do this!
